If you assume that this past Sunday's End of the Weak was a typical night at the pyramid, you are sadly mistaken. 12.7.08 marked a night where Make A Move Records became the hosts of the MIGHTY EODUB. "Bronx Zu Animal" Jess Jamez Figueroa, "Mr. 106 and Park" Kay M and The 2008 USA EOW MC CHALLENGE CHAMPION Dirty Mac, filled the shoes of the 3 Kings for the night.
This was a special night for Dirty Mac, being the first time he hosted an open mic. With thew new 'Figueroa' album coming out, Jess Jamez went in. Dirty Mac showed why he became this years EOW USA CHAMPION, and Kay M ended the weekend that begain with his win on BET's "106 and Park: FREESTYLE FRIDAY".
A lot of familiar faces set it off for the night. Mirak and Eric Curthage came through, Prezzure then followed and got the hosts and the crowd to "GO IN" (pause). Kalil Kash came though with "The Look, The Swag"... "SHOWS WHAT YOU KNOW!!!".
Poetic Justice was the first rap/singing act of the night consisting of a beautiful young lady and a proud Filipino who "ooohed" and "ahhhed" the crowd. Stronghold's Swave Seveh came in and kicked the living sh*t out of everybody with his metaphors and lyrical ability. WOW!! If you listen to hip hop and have not heard of Swave Seveh or the Stronghold Crew, you better find them
before they find you. HA!!
Although Kay, Jess and Mac were the hosts of the evening, the original hosts, the 3 Kings, had to grace the stage on their day off work. This is why they are the hosts of the EODUB!!!
The first showcase of the night was from a brother by the name of Rizz from
the EOW:UK. He had some progressive music, did his thing and had everybody bugging out during his performance, especially the hosts. Props!
The next showcase was from a man named Bernandio with the reggaeton. Much respect. The third and final showcase of the night consisted of the B.U.R.N. U Movement. These guys went in and "burned" down their set, bringing in a beat boxer before their set was done. It's great to know that there are still artists out there embracing things like beat boxing which could be considered a lost art in today's society.
Due to time restraints, the hosts had everybody get on stage for the POWER CIPHER, with Likwuid and Backwordz jumping in with 2 sick freestyles and of course Xtra came in and rocked. To close the show, Kay M and Dirty Mac traded back 4 bars 3 times. Then as the beat changed to Big Daddy Kane's "Warm It Up Kane", both Kay and Mac then went in 2 bars each. Kay and Mac then surprised the crowd when they skimmed it down passing a bar a piece back and forth. WOW. FIRE!!!. An insane off-the-top finish to a very great show. ONLY CHAMPS WEAR SUPRAS!! (even though Dirty Mac was wearing Nike SB's that night). HA!
Even though I was referring to myself to the 3rd person in this Re:Cap, I had a hell of a time hosting. It is a huge responsibility to be a host at the dub. Not everybody can do it. To know I was given the opportunity to do so a week and a half after winning the Challenge of Champions is really a privilege. Shout out to Nonezeo for providing correct mic wires before sh*t got poppin'. Also big shout outs to Sted Ruckus, James Bong, Angel, Ghetto Terrorist, and everybody else that was in attendance showing their support. Once again, End of the Weak proves why it is the greatest flow going on the face of the earth.
