The weather was perfect for an outdoor event, not a cloud in sight. "Paris Hip Hop" invited us to do an EOW set at their Block Party. There were tons of other Hip Hop related exhibitions at the Block Party: Graffiti, B Boys, BMX, and of course we called up our gunners and put together a little MC Challenge DEMO. Raheem, from EOW France, scooped me up in the whip and we headed over to Sammy Jackets' hood to pick him up. When we arrived at the the park in Stalingrad, I was mesmerized by its picturesque landscape. It reminded of the feeling I had when we held our EOW 8 year anniversary at East River Park. I knew that this event would be one for the ages.
Warlock, our EOW France host, was already there when we arrived. DJ Keri, Nicolson, Kizito, Artik, and Philemon all showed up a little later on. We had a brief meeting and waited for our time slot. Once they introduced us, I went in with a freestyle dedicated to MJ and the French public loved it. I introduced Warlock and he took over the hosting duties. We started with the Cipher Skills Demo. Kiz, Artik, Warlock and Phil we're lined up like the Temptations as they exchanged bars, it was nuts.
Then we broke out the Freestyle Trash Can that was filled with random items and plastered with EOW Stickers. Everyone did their thing but Philemon destroyed it...he must have took 5 minutes to pick 5 items...it was amazing to see how the public reacted to him, he is one hell of a performer. Then the beef started..the war was on!!! DJ vs MC...BEAT JUGGLING...if you've never seen Keri and Nicolson get at an MC during this round of the challenge...it's a SIGHT!!! They make it impossible for the average MC to keep up...but we had our Elite gunners in the house, so they handled the assault administered by the cynical DJ duo like true vets.
Big shout to Kizito who really held it down against the DJs. We had a little extra time so I joined the guys for the encore and we did one more Cipher Skills round to close out strong.
It was a WIN...it was an honor to be a part of such a positive event, not to mention it was an excellent springboard for the NEW EOW FRANCE season...The saga continues...
