End Of the Weak Re:Cap May 3rd, 2009

It always starts in a dingy basement in the L.E.S…. The EOW Staff meeting on Sunday Night…dues…website updates…Henny…

Henny… new additions (shout-out to Jon Public)... Jersey show recap… Jack & Ginger…

Nonezeo came with the DUB appreciation night idea-the EOW field trip – (brilliant)…

Guinness… …remember on May 19th we go in ‘cause it’s also Bong’s Born Day! (and Veezy had the booster – true story)…

Then it’s time to see L’s…make that pop within the neighboring blocks…then get my mind/mojo right (this usually happens during sound check)…Henny…

then we go in… Incredible showmanship…at this point my own adrenaline mixes w/ the henny/haze…stellar freestyle moments with my bredren…return of the living dead…shak-out!...represent for Cali’s Born Day!...jump off the list…

Crazy E pops off the night and then Angel steps up to wreck - followed by True Knowledge (this dude’s energy is on some next other shit). New Soldier Illard Scott destroys again with a conceptual record (did I mention that we like this kid?). J Monopoly, Fedel, Kurt Cadet (lazers), Lefty and Marco Polo all rip.

Then Jon B stepped to the mic…Damn kid – you came up. A great record with greatly improved presence on stage. This was followed by Jigsaw, Jay Dash, and Crossword. Then Zuleika went in w/ the surprise world premier performance and R.E.M. commenced to Body Shit w/ Hizpanik Sara Kana and a wild acapella by EOW’s own Jess James Figueroa…nice.

Then we saw Bain 5, Ave K, Envy, Joe Columbo, MoChedda, Stan Smith and another classic from Final Outlaw! The energy actually went to the next plateau when Niles rocked though. The song he did/his flow on the song/his energy on stage - were difficult to ignore. He spits like his life is on the line, I think he”s a great talent.

Then we saw Aliosha, Bourbon Street (great name), LSD, Cash, Sha Beetle and a special guest straight from Senegal, Africa named BaeBya (pronounced Buy-Bia). For real – spitting in English and Senegalese (shout-out to Amy)!

Then came the bonus round for all the late night DUB dwellers. My man Poison Pen – (the mayor of Nostrand Ave. and he’s down w/ too many crews to list here) came through and did two brand new joints! My Man…he has new Crack! Yo – the joint that Static produced was baneen! His album – “The Money Shot” - this August.

Damn - another solid night of live Hip-Hop in NYC...shout-out to Propayne, Jess James and Veezy for holding the God down last night…trudge back to whip…and John Coltrane becomes the soundtrack as I ride off into the smoky haze of the purple kush mountains…respect…
