EOW MC Challenge

Born in NYC: A Global Hip-Hop Competition

The battle circuit has been around for years, and while battles are funny, and battling itself is a talent... they are not a complete measuring stick of an MC's skills. Some of the best battle MCs are better comedians than MCs. Battles also exploit hate, pitting two hungry MCs against each other.

Another common method of exploiting hungry talent? Pay-to-play competitions or "showcases" where artists put up their own prize in the form of "registration fees". The few that are legitimate still glorify stageshows without testing other facets of a TRUE MCs talents: Freestyling, Cyphering, etc.

So we envisioned a unique competition that truly tests even the most talented MCs. In the MC Challenge, contestants compete in five rounds: Beat Juggling, Written's, A Capella's, Cypha's, and the crowd favorite: Freestyle Grab Bag.

Throughout the event a panel of judges awards points for lyrics, creativity, stage presence, delivery and crowd reaction. We pride ourselves on the non-confrontational tone of our MC Challenge and the talent level of the MCs who compete.

As of 2010, the MC Challenge is being held in 9 countries across 3 continents. Entrants compete in regional competitions, with the winne r advancing to the National Finals. Each nation sends one champion to represent their country in the annual World Finals, where one MC is crowned the new World Champion.

The first-ever MC Challenge was in the year 2000 in the back of a restaurant in NYC's Lower East Side. That one alone featured WebbaFied and Immortal Technique. Other Challengers and Champions include: Jin, Iron Solomon, Immortal Technique, Pack FM, Pumpkinhead, Reef Da Lost Cause, Breez Evahflowin, C-Rayz Walz, Poison Pen and many, many more.

If you think you have what it takes to be crowned the next WORLD CHAMPION, hit us up.
