Solid Ground is a Hip-Hop crew with a strong foundation. They started in 1997 with the core members: Dus-One, Cap T, World, Nonezeo and Big Zoo. These MC’s and producers came together because they saw a void in Hip-Hop. Commercialism and bling was at an all time high and the music had started to lose its’ true spirit and power. Solid Ground was designed to be the cure for the symptoms of the industry’s sickness; lack of originality, lack of knowledge and lack of true love and respect for the culture.
Over the years Solid Ground took many forms, as life itself caught up with some of its’ core members. The crew now consists of Nonezeo and Big Zoo, the dynamic duo of culture music. Nonezeo perfected his production and engineering skills while working for P. Diddy (yes…the original shiny suit man!) at Daddy’s House studio from 1995 – 2000. Big Zoo honed his MC and battle skills in 2000 when he won the MTV Direct Effect battle for 5 straight weeks. These two NJ, MC/Producers feel compelled to keep the torch burning for the listener who still cares about quality in music. They are more concerned with helping you fight for freedom and raise your family than they are of telling you which rims to put on your truck or what grade of diamonds you should rock.
Solid Ground has the official boom-bap sound of early KRS, Rakim and DJ Premier and they are trendsetters with the creativity of De La, Tribe and the Jungle Brothers. In these days and times they also feel compelled to keep their lyrics conscious & political like Mos Def, Common and dead prez. Combine all of these elements and you will hear the progressive sound of Solid Ground. Their music gives you a strong base and their lyrics provide a firm structure, proving a statement that we all already know to be true…
